Dr. Glory Edet Awards Scholarships To A’Ibom Medical Students
…commends Governor Udom for qualitative education for Akwa Ibom children
Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Glory Edet, has awarded full scholarship to a medical student and payment of all fees and logistics to another five (5) medical students for one academic session under the aegis of National Association of Akwa Ibom State Medical Students, NAAKIMS Worldwide, which is umbrella body of all student doctors of the State origin.
The exercise, which was in response to an SOS raised by NAAKIMS president, Comrade Utomobong Udo recently, was held in the conference room of the Ministry of Agriculture, Friday, May 21.
Presenting the scholarships which cover tuition fees and other peripheral charges, Dr. Edet said that the gesture was a further demonstration of the huge importance that the Governor Udom Emmanuel administration places on the qualitative education of every Akwa Ibom child.
The Commissioner noted that as a former Staff Adviser for students , University of Uyo for about 8 years and also the Staff Adviser for Ini students, UNIUYO Chapter for about 8 years, she was well-versed with the plight of students.

In his remarks, the State Chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, Dr. Ime Udo who witnessed the occasion, appreciated the Commissioner for her gesture and advised the students to put the largesse into judicious use.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Comrade Utomobong pledged to reciprocate the Honourable Commissioner’s gesture by taking their studies seriously in order to make the State and Government proud in the foreseeable future.
The beneficiary of the full Sponsorship, Emem appreciated Dr. Glory Edet as God sent to her when she never thought she could continue in school as a result of lack of funds.
